Jastrzębski President Adam Gorol said for Polsat Sport that there’s no chance that the club will rejoin the Champions League even if it would be resumed at a later date. According to the decision of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), all competitions under its jurisdiction are postponed until further notice due to coronavirus pandemic.
“The prevailing epidemic of coronavirus meant that we had to contact CEV at the beginning of March. At the time, I was fighting for our team not to go to Italy for the quarterfinal match (against Itas Trentino). I must admit that it was a great battle. As we know, ultimately we didn’t go to this match. We’re still in touch with the European federation. There’s no final decision, it’s to appear at the beginning of April. However, I know that it will be impossible for us to play this edition of the Champions League. The players are already leaving, there’s no training,“ the head of the club said.
Gorol added that the only solution would be to extend the next edition of the Champions League with Jastrzębski because this edition of the competition likely won’t be completed and he will suggest this to the CEV.
