Given the circumstances, PGE Skra Bełchatów prevailed over Trefl Gdańsk in Round 7 of the 2020/21 Polish women’s volleyball Championship more difficult than expected.

Trefl had to deal with Skra in the big match of Round 7 of the 2020/21 PlusLiga regular season without a captain Mariusz Wlazły and a head coach Michał Winiarski due to coronavirus. The latter was replaced by his assistant, Italian Roberto Rotari. However, Winiarski was in constant contact with his staff over the phone during the match and commanded the team that way.

Trefl fought hard, but it was only enough to win one set: 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-15). Thus, Skra continued dominating over the rivals in the league. The last time Trefl defeated the Bełchatów side was four and a half years ago. Norbert Huber top-scored Skra with 15 points. Kewin Sasak tallied the same number of points for the losing side, while Karol Urbanowicz made 4 blocks.

As many as five games of this round were postponed due to coronavirus cases within at least one club per face-off.
