It seems that Resovia have woken up in the last moment to reach the top 4 in the 2020/21 Polish Men’s PlusLiga regular season charts for the playoffs. In a delayed match of the 1st round, they prevailed over third-placed Trefl in 5 sets, partially 25-20, 29-31, 26-24, 17-25, and 17-15. With a third victory in a row, to which they were led by Slovenian Klemen Čebulj (23 points, including 4 blocks) and Estonian Timo Tammemaa (4 blocks), Resovia claimed 6th place in the standings.
Such an outcome suited VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa. The team from the Polish capital earned the 4th successive victory (3-0 vs GKS Katowice in Round 21) and reduced the gap in relation to Trefl to just 2 points. Bartosz Kwolek scored 16 points for the team commanded by Andrea Anastasi. Piotr Nowakowski set up as many as 8 blocks, while Igor Grobelny had 74 % reception (23 digs 35 % perfect).
