In a decider for the promotion to the playoff semifinals of the 2020/21 Polish Men’s PlusLuga, the 6th-seed VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa beat no.3 Trefl Gdańsk and, undoubtedly, staged an upset. The team from the country’s capital prevailed in Game 3 of the quarterfinal series by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18).
Jan Król top-scored Warszawa with 16 points, while Piotr Nowakowski blocked rival’s attacks 5 times. Andrea Anastasi’s wards thus filled the last remained spot in the semifinals.
