The Polish champions were introduced to the media in a press conference held at the local Town Hall. Head coach Andrzej Kowal and the players (team captain Aleh Akhrem and wing-spiker Peter Veres, one of the new faces in the team) shared their hopes and expectations before the upcoming games in the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League.
Asseco Resovia RZESZOW was assigned to pool C together with France’s PARIS Volley, Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE of the Czech Republic and Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA of Montenegro.
“Pool C seems easy but it’s not going to be a walk-over. Now, the level of Volleyball in Europe is very balanced. We can’t underestimate anyone. We’ll be taking every game fully motivated and believe in our strengths” said head coach Andrzej Kowal.
“I can promise that we will be fighting in every single match regardless of the potential of our opponents. We have set high goals and we want to win everything we can. At the beginning we will need some time to be able to show the best quality in our game and have a good understanding on the court” added team captain Aleh Akhrem.
“For each Volleyball player, it is important to play in the Champions League as well as for the club and the sponsors. I don’t have a lot of experience in the Champions League but I think it isn’t that important. This year our team has got excellent players and many options in every single position. I hope we win the group, but our goal is the Final Four” stressed Hungary’s wing-spiker Peter Veres.
