Last week both these teams suffered a setback as they lost their respective home matches with BUDVA – for Resovia – and PARIS Volley. “Our situation is a little more complicated after this home defeat but we want to keep cool and claim first place in the Pool” says Resovia setter Fabian Drzyzga.
Resovia and Jihostroj both claimed their last matches in the respective national leagues: Asseco Resovia beat Transfer BYDGOSZCZ 3:1 in the PlusLiga while Jihostroj edged with the same score Aero Odolena Voda in the Czech Extraleague.
Asseco Resovia will be missing one of their stars, libero Krzysztof Ignaczak, who is currently injured. In the last game with BYDGOSZCZ he was replaced by wing-spiker Nikolay Penchev and 16-year old libero Mateusz Maslowski. Penchev was taking care of the reception while Maslowski primarily focused on defence actions.
“We have a difficult situation because of the injury of our libero who must rest and can’t play on Wednesday with Jihostroj” stresses Resovia head coach Andrzej Kowal. “However, Penchev and Maslowski played good last weekend. Mateusz is young but a very talented player and we want to give him a chance. We have many matches to play and we must be focused and believe in our chances” he concludes.
