Asseco Resovia Rzeszów are still undefeated in the 2022-23 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship even after the match against the reigning champions of the country and Europe, Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
In the hit match of the seventh round of the 2022-23 PlusLiga, Resovia swept ZAKSA 3-0. Thus, the Rzeszów side remained one of the two teams that are unbeaten in the season so far (7-0), claiming the second position in the charts after another club with a perfect record, Jastrzębski Węgiel. This is already the third defeat of the reigning CEV Champions League winners.
Although the Resovia vs ZAKSA matches have always been electrifying, looking through the prism of recent years, hardly anyone expected that the teams would approach their first meeting in the season from such positions. Resovia as the undefeated runner-up of the table, and ZAKSA from the fifth position. Especially given the fact that Resovia managed to prevail in head-to-heads with ZAKSA only twice in the last 10 games.
In front of nearly 4,000 spectators in a packed Hala Podpromie, the home side was led by American Torey DeFalco (18 points; 4 blocks). Aleksander Śliwka scored 15 for ZAKSA.
