In a highly anticipated matchup of the 2nd round of PlusLiga, Jastrzębski Węgiel claimed a 3-0 victory over Asseco Resovia. Despite trailing significantly in the first set, the reigning Polish champions turned the tide and secured the win in straight sets (26-24, 25-21, 25-15).

The star of the match was reserve attacker Arkadiusz Żakieta, who came off the bench to deliver an impressive performance, scoring 14 points. Tomasz Fornal also contributed 10 points for Jastrzębski Węgiel, while Stephen Boyer led Asseco Resovia with 10 points.

Jastrzębski Węgiel dominated in attack, out-blocked their opponents 9-4, and made fewer errors, with Żakieta named MVP after achieving a remarkable 73% efficiency in attack, along with two aces and one block.

After the loss, Asseco Resovia’s attacker, Stephen Boyer, expressed his frustration, emphasizing that missed opportunities, such as their first-set collapse when leading 24-21, cannot happen against top teams like Jastrzębski Węgiel.

In another PlusLiga match, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie also secured a 3-0 victory over Barkom-Każany Lwów. Karol Butryn led his team with 21 points, while Aaron Russell added 20 in his debut performance for the “Jurassic Knights”.
