Bulgaria
By smashing Iran, Italy booked the last ticket for the final tournament. Thus, Russia’s perfect win over Bulgaria in Dallas, USA 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-18) was in vain. Even if they level with 5th placed Italy in win-loss ratio and number of points (Serbia and France are unreachable in number of points), they will remain short-handed for the F6 due to set ratio.
On the other hand, Bulgaria will play ’the match of the day’ in the final round (July 3, 22:00 CET) againt Australia for Group 1 survival. Both national teams are winless so far as the „Aussies“ also suffered their 8th defeat in the competition. They succumbed to the USA 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-15) in Dallas.
All in all, these are the six national teams to qualify to the Final Six, from July 13 to 17: Brazil, USA, France, Serbia, Italy and the hosts Poland!
