Wilfredo Leon still does not have the necessary paperwork to change his sports citizenship and to get the permit to play for Poland. Cuban player and the Polish Volleyball Federation have done everything they could, but the Cuban Volleyball Federation has not yet issued the papers.
The new head coach of Poland Ferdinando De Giorgi said that he would like to have Leon in his team, but that the situation is quite complicated.
“You all know the quality of this player. He can make any team in the world better than it currently is. But, I cannot think about him right now, as he still has not got the permit to play for Poland. If he gets it, I will certainly take into account to call him to the national team. The doors of the national team are open to all players who are able to play for Poland. But in this specific case, we will obviously need to go on a vacation to Cuba…”
