Back in the 2010/2011 season, MUSZYNA edged the Serbian national champions twice and always with the same score (3:1) while last season Bank BPS Fakro downed Crvena Zvezda in straight sets at home and conceded one set in Serbia’s capital city. Even though the head-to-heads stand at 4 to 0, head coach Bogdan Serwinski remains cautious: “It is a young team that is getting stronger and stronger every year. So we shall not underestimate our opponents”.
Crvena Zvezda is the absolute dominant force in Serbia having claimed the national cup and national league for the past three seasons. However, the team is not that successful on the European arena since Crvena Zvezda did not win any single match in the past two years but last week they made life difficult for Lokomotiv BAKU eventually losing only at the tie-break.
MUSZYNA started out by losing 2:3 to Dinamo MOSCOW but still could bring a point home, with Dinamo and Lokomotiv being the provisional leaders of the group with 2 points.
“Only the first and second ranked teams will make it to the Playoffs – along with the third ranked with the best score – so this season our task is a little bit more difficult. There is no space for any setback; you need to win all of your matches, which is hard but still possible” stressed the mentor of Bank BPS Fakro.
