Poland’s head coach Andrea Anastasi recently shared some opinions about this formula via an interview published on the website of JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel. “I think this formula is quite interesting for some aspects. We have the chance to play the best teams in the world right from the prelims and this is evidently the only way to improve our quality of play. I think it is good that the world ranking of the various teams was taken into account in allocating the participating nations to the prelim Pools. I am also happy that we will avoid long and tiring journeys. There will be less matches and more time for our players to rest” he says.
The President of the Polish Volleyball Federation, Miroslaw Przedpelski, recently proposed to play the matches with Brazil in Warsaw National Stadium, the facility that was used this past summer for UEFA 2012. “I have been there and have to admit that the perspective to play in front of 60’000 people literally takes my imagination. I am glad that I have a boss who is a volcano of energy and who is coming up with courageous proposals and surprising ideas” stresses Anastasi. “At the same time I know it won’t be easy to make this happen”.
As he visited Jastrzebie, Anastasi also lectured at special conferences held in the Volleyball school centers of Jarocin and Szczyrk.
