RUS M: Belogorie return their former player, 2004 Olympics bronze medalist

The Russian men’s volleyball Superliga powerhouse Belogorie Belgorod hired an experienced opposite, also their former member.

A 36-year-old opposite Sergey Baranov will continue his career in Belogorie Belgorod.

Baranov already played for Belgorod club for eight seasons (2002-2009, and 2015/16), winning the CEV Champions League twice (2003, 2004), the Russian championship three times (2003, 2004, 2005), Russian cup two times (2003, 2005), and CEV Cup once (2009).

He has been prone to injuries during his long career due to which he missed several seasons. The 2016/17 was the last season, so far, in which he was sidelined, while he spent the last season in Division 2, wearing the jersey of Dagestan Makhachkala.

Baranov played 62 games for Russia national team from 2003 to 2006 and won the bronze medal in the 2004 Olympic Games.
