Russia’s way towards the Tokyo Olympics will be easier knowing that one of their main rivals in Pool E (Saint Petersburg) Cuba will play without 3 returnees to the national team. The remaining 2 rivals of “Zbornaya“ in the pool are Iran and Mexico.

The head coach of 2-time successive FIVB Nations League winners Sammelvuo has chosen these 14 players to fight for the Tokyo ticket. Among them are several players that skipped the 2019 FIVB Nations League, such as Mikhailov and Muserskiy.

Setters: Aleksandr Butko, Igor Kobzar

Opposite hitters: Maksim Mikhailov, Viktor Poletaev

Middle blockers: Artem Volvich, Ilyas Kurkaev, Dmitriy Muserskiy, Ivan Iakovlev

Outside hitters: Dmitriy Volkov, Fedor Voronkov, Egor Kluka, Anton Semyshev

Liberos: Valentin Golubev, Roman Martynyuk.
