RUS M: Lokomotiv outplay champions Kuzbass to reach 4/4, Zenit-Kazan win “classic” against Belogorie

Lokomotiv have definitely warmed up title hopes of their fans at the beginning of the 2019/20 Russian Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

Former European champions (2013) Lokomotiv recorded the fourth win in as many games in the 2019/20 Superliga Parimatch regular season and top the charts with 12 points. The fourth success in the national league has come against the champions Kuzbass (3-1: 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21) and it really warms up the title hopes of the fans of the Novosibirsk side. As for Kuzbass, this was their first defeat in the season. Konstantin Bakun top-scored for Lokomotiv with 17 points, while Dmitriy Shcherbinin made 5 kill blocks. As for the Kemerovo team, Ukrainian Dmytro Pashytskyy scored 18 points.

Round 4 of the Superliga has brought the “classic” of the Russian men’s volleyball – a duel between the two most titled teams in the post-Soviet era: Zenit-Kazan (10 titles) and Belogorie (8 titles). The first-mentioned side emerged victoriously from the match despite playing on the road: 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 19-25, 25-22). The Frenchman Earvin Ngapeth led Zenit-Kazan’s scorers with 19 points. Serbian Dražen Luburić scored 20 points for Belogorie.
