Galatasaray HDI Sigorta are definitely “lethal” to Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta this season. After beating them in the Super Cup in a prelude of the 2019/20 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi regular season, Galatasaray HDI Sigorta recorded one more win against the same rivals and reached 4 out of 4. This time, they beat Fenerbahçe in Round 4 of the national championship: 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-21) and inflicted them a first defeat in the competition. By scoring 15 points, Estonian Oliver Venno top-scored for Galatasaray in what is considered the biggest sports derby in Turkey. The Dutchman Wouter ter Maat poured in 18 points for the losing side.

İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Spor Kulübü, who was winless prior to Round 4, made a huge upset by beating one of the major title favorites Arkas Spor: 3-2 (25-17, 25-16, 18-25, 22-25, 17-15). Serhat Coşkun led the team from the Turkish capital with 26 points, while Emre Berat Fırat served 5 aces. Adis Lagumdžija scored 27 points for Arkas.
