The 10-time Russian men’s volleyball champions Zenit-Kazan hired a middle blocker.

After completing the transfer hit involving the Pole Bednorz, Zenit-Kazan secured one more signing for the next season – the middle blocker Artem Smolyar.

The veteran player (35 years old) collected more than 250 matches in the Superliga during his career, being the closest to winning the title in 2010 while wearing the jersey of Belogorie (silver medal). However, Smolyar managed to win the FIVB Club World Championship and Russian Super Cup with the same club, which was in the 2014/15 season. He was a member of the Russia National Team in 2014 and 2015.

Last season, Smolyar performed for Dinamo-LO.
