Zenit-Kazan beat the reigning champions Lokomotiv on the road in Round 2 of the 2020/21 Russian Championship for men, which was also a battle for the 2020 Super Cup, after a tie-break – partially 25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 23-25, and 15-9.
Including the last season, these rivals played the third consecutive five-setter, while the Kazan side prevailed in mutual encounters with the club from Novosibirsk for the 18th time in a row. This was the second win in as many matches of the team coached by Vladimir Alekno in the 2020/21 Superliga Parimatch regular season for men to which it was led by Bartosz Bednorz. The Pole made a majestic display of 27 points, including 8 aces and 5 blocks! Serbian Dražen Luburić top-scored Lokomotiv with 24 points, while Dmitriy Shcherbinin made 7 blocks.
Kuzbass also reached 2-0 in the league, while Zenit Saint-Petersburg noted their first win in the season.
