After rumors (which have not been officially confirmed) about the signing of Igor Juričić as the new coach, Alan Souza as the new opposite, there is information that Alexander Butko should be the new setter of Kuzbass.
In an interview for the Russian Sport Business Gazzetta, Butko confirmed that he is one step away from signing the contract.
“Currently, the contract has not been signed, there is only an verbal agreement. A few details remain to be discussed. I had different options, but Kuzbass attracted me with high goals.” – Butko stated for sport.busines-gazeta.ru.
Butko strengthened Zenit’s roster in February 2016 and helped the team win the Russian Championship and the Champions League in the same season. In 2017, Alexander was chosen as the team captain and while being a leader he was the first to lift more than ten trophies above his head.
Together with Zenit, he won the Champions League and the Russian Championship three times, the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup four times, as well as the 2017 World Club Championship. In total, Butko played 242 matches for Zenit-Kazan.
