Zenit-Kazan are going in the new season with a new head coach by which the rumors are confirmed. Aleksey Verbov has become the successor of Vladimir Alekno. The 39-year-old expert already commanded the play of the Kazan team in the 2019/20 season, having Alekno as a consultant. After that, the young coach took over the reins of Kuzbass.
The upcoming season will be Verbov’s 9th in Zenit. For seven seasons (2009/10, 2013-2019) he defended the colors of the club from the Tatarstan region as a libero, appearing in 238 matches and winning 20 trophies with it (3 victories in the CEV Champions League, 6 Russian Championship titles, 6 Russian Cups, 4 Super Cups and 1 victory at the FIVB Club World Championship). As a head coach, Verbov brought Zenit another title – the 2019 Russian Cup.
