“We and besides we have some new players in the team,” said Voronkov. “We will analyse this game and correct our mistakes.”

“The match was more difficult than yesterday, so we must work harder,” said Russian captain Sergey Makarov.

Iran brought the pressure to the game against Russia’s national team who team struggled to stay on top but won 3-1.

“We did too many mistakes in service today as well as the Russian team,” said Iranian captain Marouflakrani Mir Saeid. “We played well and fought. Every player did their best.”

Despite Iran’s loss, the 3-1 win is an improvement from Friday’s first meeting between the teams, which ended 3-0.

“We played much better than yesterday, we managed to win one set and this is positive news today,” said Iranian coach Julio Velasco. “We did more mistakes than Russia and we should work more to solve this problem.”
