It all started with a true volleyball marathon with 66 points in one set! Belogorie was constantly in lead, but just couldn’t finish the opponent. At the end, Dmitriy Muserskiy, who else, managed to win the crucial point and give home team lead in this match.
Of course it gave a big boost to Belgorod side, which won the second set as well, much easier. But, it was not the end, just a new beginning.
Rebirth of Zenit started with third set which away team eventually seized on minimal point difference. Squad of Vladimir Alekno continued in the same style in the fourth set, reaching significant lead of four points. But, Belogorie equalized on 22-22! We had another dramatic finish of the set in which Zenit survived Muserskiy’s serve, and then won the 25th point after a great block… Tie-break!
We didn’t used the word “survived” in the upper line by case… Muserskiy was the first server in Belgorod team in decisive set…and his “bombs” led Belogorie to 5-0! There was even a counter for 6-0, but Zenit block was once again on the right spot and gave visitors some life in this tie-break. However, Zenit just managed to get close on 6-4 and 7-5… Soon it was 11-6 and home crowd could start celebrating.
