“I think we showed one of the main features that Russian people are known by: the harder it gets, the better we perform,” coach of Zenit KAZAN, Alekno commented. “I experienced this while working with the club as well as with the national team. I think that the injuries suffered by Volkov and Mikhaylov were the turning point of this tournament. My players mobilized all of their energies, they played very well and on top of this, I think our rivals underestimated us because they thought we were weakened by these injuries.”
