Russian news outlet BO Sport reports that Ural Ufa has made a change in their coaching lineup by dismissing head coach Andrei Voronkov. Voronkov, who assumed the role at the start of the current season, has seen the team struggle under his leadership. Ural failed to progress to the playoffs of the Russian Cup and has suffered seven defeats in nine matches in the Russian championship, leading to their current 13th position in the Russian SuperLiga.
Voronkov, who returned to coaching after a year-long disqualification, previously found success in women’s volleyball with Kaliningrad’s Lokomotiv between 2018 and 2022, guiding them to two championships.
The role of head coach at Ural Ufa will now be filled by Igor Shulepov, who recently joined as an assistant coach. This decision follows the team’s disappointing home loss to Nova (1-3). Shulepov, is not new to the head coach position in Ufa, having previously led the team during the 2020/21 season.
