Robertlandy Simón, Al-Rayyan player:

We made good use of our individual attributes. The Russian team blocked us very well and they also served and defended. They overcame us in an overall level; we tried to win today, but we failed. Nevertheless, this silver medal is a remarkable result for Qatar’s volleyball.”

György Grozer, Belogorie Belgorod player:

We served very well throughout the match. We started bad, but we never gave up and always tried to fight. I think that was the team’s heart; we managed to play perfectly from there. We played like a team. This tournament had a very high level and that made things difficult for us, but like I said, we are a team. We are very good friends, we worked very hard and thus we achieved this victory.”

Igor Arbutina, Al-Rayyan coach:

“This is a historical achievement for Qatar’s volleyball and also for the entire region. We are extremely happy. Today we lost against a much better team. We tried to play our best, we took much more risks, but Belogorie was just too good for us. They’re the strongest team of the world now.

Gennady Shipulin, Belogorie Belgorod coach:

We are a great team. We are a family. We wanted to win this title, I myself wanted it very much. We all played an amazing game today, all the team gave everything for this. I’m ecstatic because here I had a great win at the World League, 12 years ago, and now we have this title for Russia. This is our lucky place, here in Brazil. This victory is for everybody in Russia.”
