Zenit-Kazan Crowned 2025 Russian Volleyball Champions
Zenit-Kazan clinched their 13th Russian Championship title by sweeping Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Russian PARI SuperLiga best-of-five playoff final, winning the series without dropping a single match.
The final showdown concluded in Saint Petersburg, where Kazan’s side defeated their namesake rivals 3–1 in Match 3. Prior to that, Zenit-Kazan dominated the first two matches in Kazan, winning 3–0 and 3–2, respectively.
Despite an impressive regular season with only one loss to Fakel, critics questioned Zenit-Kazan’s ability to clinch the title, especially after losing two previous finals to Dynamo Moscow. Under head coach Alexey Verbov, the team silenced doubters with flawless playoff performances—winning every match and nearly every set leading up to the final.
After the victory, players and coaches from both teams reflected on the series. Verbov praised his squad’s focus and consistency, while Zenit Saint Petersburg’s coach, Vladimir Alekno, acknowledged Kazan’s superiority but emphasized the growth and unity of his own team.
