Only in the first set, Belgium gave stronger resistance and in other two sets they didn’t manage to play like in the first part of the match.

Russia captain Ekaterina Kosianenko:

“After losing yesterday’s game, it was most important for us to concentrate on the game today and not make so many mistakes.”

Russia coach Yury Marichev:

“As our captain said, it was important for us not to make so many mistakes and I think our players did that. If you look at the stats regarding the Japan game, in attack we made 15 mistakes and only four today. For reception, it was the same: 15 against Japan and only six today. Another factor is that we had a very difficult schedule with our flights and everything, and our players haven’t had time to relax, so that’s very difficult for us.”

Belgium captain Charlotte Leys:

First congratulations to Russia. We knew it would be difficult today, but we started well against them in the first set, which we only lost by two points. They have a good block and we need to find more solutions for this. I’m happy with my team – they fought well today and we will see what happens tomorrow.”

Belgium coach Gert Van de Broek:

“Congratulations to Russia. They were the better team. They are the better team. I was more satisfied today than yesterday. I think we played better but it is difficult in terms of individual quality, especially in attacking and most of all blocking. My players did what I asked of them. I think we could do more on our service than we did today. I can’t blame the players but I think if we could have done this, we could have come closer. We played well in the first set but we didn’t defend well at the beginning of the second set and Russia were able to get into a rhythm and we couldn’t stop it.”
