RUS M: That’s Zenit! Two sets down but manages to win in Belgorod

European champions, Zenit Kazan, struck back in the playoff final series and equalized at 1-1 in games against Belogorie Belgorod after amazing turnaround in the second clash.

The team led by Vladimir Alekno was on the verge of losing in straight sets as a visitor. It was 2-0 behind, but was able to take this match into tie-break.

In the decisive set, Zenit was stronger than Belogorie – 15-12.

Tie-break started with the inititaitive of Belogorie (3-1), but Zenit quickly leveled and after a while, took the lead (5-3). From that moment the game went point for point, but still, the players from Kazan were slightly better.

After the change of sides the team coached by Vladimir Alekno gained the advantage of two points again (9-7) and soon the gap was four points (12-8). Belogorie did not give up and reduced the lead of the guests (12-11), but it was not enough to win.

The hero of Zenit was Wilfredo León who scored 30 points. On the other side, Georg Grozer had 33!

The next match in the series to three victories will be held in Kazan on April 27.
