Why only 3 clubs from Russia play in CL?

I believe the most slots any country can get for Champions League is 3. So Russia has 3, Poland has 3 etc. There are countries that only get 2 slots or even 1 slot.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

It depends of the country’s classification on CEV list. Max. number of clubs can be 3. If some country is lower classified, then clubs from that country play only CEV CUP or can be only one team in Challenge Cup
