USA had far more successful spikes in Pool F (Group 1) clash while Russia made to many errors, especially in the third set.
Americans TeTori Dixon and Karsta Lowe backed up each other in their scoring performances, both collecting 12 points.
Russian Nataliya Goncharova was the top scorer of the match with 14.
Brazil is another invincible team in GP as it easily beat Belgium in straight sets in Pool D (Group 1) played in São Paulo.
The result on the first technical time-out in sets two and three (8-1 and 8-2) shows how much South Americans were dominant in this duel.
Gabriela Guimarães with 13 points was the most efficient player in Brazil.
Kaja Grobelna and Els Vandesteene had 9 each in Belgium.
