Poland were forced by Bulgarian National Team to go to their upper limits 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-20) in the first round of Pool B, in Kaliningrad, Russia.

Head coach of Poland, Stéphane Antiga, decided to leave Bartosz Kurek on bench, since he took him to the first weekend at the last moment to avoid penalties by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

Bartosz Bednorz was the best scorer in Poland with 15 points. On the other side, Tsvetan Sokolov also collected 15 points.
