If you visit the official website of Zenit Kazan and click on the 2016/17 roster, you will see that the Russian powerhouse have completed their 14-player squad.
It looks like this:
Setters: Alexander Butko, Igor Kobzar
Receivers: Matt Anderson, Evgeniy Sivozhelez, Vilfredo Leon, Vladimir Melynik
Middle Blockers: Ivan Demakov, Artem Volvich, Andrey Ashev, Alexander Gutsaliyuk
Opposites: Maxim Mikhailov, Denis Zemchenok
Libero: Teodor Salparov, Valentin Krotkov
As you can see, there is no Alexey Verbov in the 2016/17 roster! Excellent Russian libero, who is currently with the national team in Rio, is therefore officially a free agent. It is still a mystery whether he will sign with some other club or whether he will extend the contract with Zenit Kazan.
Verbov played the last 3 seasons for Zenit Kazan in which he won 3 Russian Championships, 2 CEV Champions Leagues, 2 Russian Cups…
