It all looked like that Zenit Kazan might suffer their very first defeat in the 2016/17 Russian Championship. The reigning champions were down by 0-2 in sets against Kuzbass Kemerovo, they were playing on the away court and they could not find a solution to stop young gun Viktor Poletaev.

But, then Zenit Kazan showed their real strength. The most dominant Russian volleyball team firstly tied the score to 2-2 in sets, while then they opened the tie-break with a 8:1 run! Still, Kuzbass Kemerovo refused to surrender and they reduced the margin to 8:7, while couple of point later they managed to level the score – 14:14!

However, in the crucial moments, the boys from Kazan made two points in a row and won the match by 16:14, 3-2 in sets.

Viktor Poletaev of Kuzbass Lemerovo was the top scorer of the match with 25 points. On the other side, Maxim Mikhailov made 20 points for Zenit Kazan.
