The most successful Women’s Volleyball club, Russian Dinamo Moscow, remained without a medal in the Final Four of the 2017 CEV Champions League in Treviso, Italy. No wonder their coach and best player were filled with indignation when the tournament was over.

„Our appearance was mediocre – so to speak. We did not come here to lose two games, but to fight, to win, to show that we really are the team of the level that deserves to play here. Maybe we burned out, maybe it’s something else. It is also necessary for the players to ask themselves a question – why they go out to play important games and allow to be mocked by rivals. They were given the instructions, which, unfortunately, were not carried out,“ Dinamo coach Yuriy Panchenko said after the bronze medal match against Turkish side Eczacıbaşı VitrA.

Commenting on the semifinal game against Imoco Volley Conegliano, Panchenko noted that he felt his team was shocked by the level of play of Italian team.

“I was fueled (to play in full force the bronze medal match). I believe that if we came here, we should have fight for medals, even if we lost semifinal, but from the side I could see that some of our players were relaxed,” best scorer of Dinamo, Nataliya Goncharova, stated.

She added it was a pity Dinamo came to the Final Four of the Champions League and could not even properly compete.
