Even though the local heroines of Dinamo had moved ahead 2:1 in sets, still this was not enough to determine the fate of the match, a remake from last year’s prelims where MUSZYNA had edged Dinamo. The guests played very well in the opening set combining good defense and solid spikes while Dinamo found their game in set 2 and 3 with Iulia Morozova and Maryna Marchenko extremely effective with their block. Natasa Osmokrovic and Natalya Obmochaeva (Goncharova) did their job in offense while Marina Akulova could also score some points. After losing composure in the fourth set, the Muscovites got back on track in the tie-break to seize the night there.

“We are very happy with the result, especially since MUSZYNA played very well tonight, namely in defense above all. I think that we eventually won mainly because of our good blocks” said Dinamo captain Maria Perepelkina.

“This was the season’s opening and it is always a question of self-confidence. I think we got it after this game. We can play much better but I am satisfied for today. I would like to praise my players because they have been working very hard in the past weeks” stressed head coach Svetlana Ilic.
