Superliga four-time defending champions Zenit Kazan swept ninth-ranked Nova Novokuybishevsk, partially 25-17, 25-19, 28-26, despite showing a lot of weaknesses in the reception (28%) and now need one more win to secure the pole position before the playoffs.
The Cuban Wilfredo León topped Kazan side with 18 points (3 aces, 2 kill blocks) while American Matthew Anderson made 83% attack (10/12, 10 points). Romanas Shkulyavichus poured in 19 points for Nova, who will fight with Ural Ufa and Kuzbass Kemerovo for No.8 in the remained three rounds of the regular stage.
Fakel Novy Urengoy do not have chances to claim second place in the standings but defended No.3 by beating Gazprom-Yugra Surgut in straight sets with 18 points (3 kill blocks) from Dmitriy Volkov.
By scoring three-points worth wins, the fourth-ranked Dinamo Moscow and fifth-ranked Zenit Sankt-Peterburg continued to pursue of Fakel.
