The gold medallists from last year’s CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship, Serbia, are hosting from Friday through Sunday one of two qualifying events where a ticket to this year’s FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship will be at stake.

Serbia by-passed the first qualification round played in January following their gold-medal winning performance at last year’s European Championship in Tartu, Estonia, and will now test the likes of Turkey, France and the Czech Republic in a tournament which is due to start on Friday in the city of Ruma.

We know our rivals very well. This will surely be an exciting tournament,” says Serbian coach Marijana Boričić.

We decided to rest some of the players and to introduce a couple of debutants for this qualifier. Notably, we will play this weekend without our best player, Tijana Boskovic, and we will see how this will turn out in the end.

The 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship will follow later this summer with the venue having been moved from Cyprus to Puerto Rico.
