Regatas ended a three-year gold medal streak of Universidad San Martín de Porres by defeating them in the playoff finals by 2-1 in series. San Martín took Game 1, but Regatas made a comeback to win the national championship trophy in front of 4,600 fans at home in Game 3, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-16), which was their fifth time to grab it in club history – a record in Peru.

Regatas managed to take the title thanks to an effective attack of Jessenia Uceda, who contributed with 17 points to the victory of his club, followed by the captain Angélica Aquino with 16 points. In San Martín, Ángela Leyva scored 11.

Thus, Regatas qualified for the 2018 South American Club Championship where they will fight to qualify for the 2018 FIVB Club World Championship.

Another great news for Regatafans might be the fact their coach, Spaniard Francisco ‘Paco’ Hervás, will likely stay the club after already spending four years at its helm.
