In the opener of the South American Qualifiers for the World Champs, in which they are hosts in Palpalá and Salta, Argentina defeated Chile 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-13).

Bruno Lima, the new player of the French title holders Chaumont Volley-Ball 52, topped the “Albiceleste” with 15 points, while their captain Luciano De Cecco recorded his 300th senior cap!

This Friday, September 1, the qualification tournament will continue with the encounter between Chile and Venezuela. Argentina will play again next Saturday, September 2, against Venezuela.

Only the winners of the South American Qualifiers, in which the three best-ranked teams from the 2017 Continental Championship (with the exception of the winners Brazil) participate, will advance to the World Championship.
