Lomas beat Bolívar by a 3-2 (25-20, 26-28, 23-25, 25- 21, 15-12) to finish group stage as Pool B leaders (2-0; 5 points), pushing the rivals to No.2 (1-1; 4 points). Federico Pereyra topped Lomas with 33 points, while Bulgarian Rozalin Penchev scored 26 points for Bolívar. The Chilean side Thomas Morus finished last-placed with a 0-2 record and no points on their account.
As for Pool A, two-time defending champions Sada Cruzeiro finished the group stage as top-seed (2-0; 6 points) with a four-set win against Peerless from Peru, playing with the substitutes in the lineup as their coach Marcelo Méndez wanted to give the rest to the starters for the semifinals. The hosts Montes Claros Vôlei are No.2 with a 1-1 record and 3 points, while Peerless are at the bottom with 0-2 and no points.
