The tournament got somehow started already on Wednesday night via the technical meeting chaired by CEV Technical Delegate Willy Bruninx and attended also by the Vice President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, Mehmet Akif Üstundag. Members of the local organizing committee headed by Mr. Aziz Yener and Mrs. Nilüfer Shimonsky were also there together with CEV Referee Delegate Vladimir Cuk, TVF Board member Ahmet Göksu, plus the international referees and officials of the various delegations.
As he did welcome all guests to Turkey, Mr. Üstundag said: “I wish you all the best for this tournament hoping that every match will be played in a spirit of fair-play and sportsmanship. We will be doing our utmost to make you feel comfortable during your stay in Ankara. I wish you good luck and also that by the end of the tournament you will be leaving Turkey with good memories”.
