TUR M: Ankara turns into venue of international debut for Europe’s next stars

Six teams will be vying for a ticket to make it to the final round of the 2013 CEV Youth Volleyball European Championship – Boys via the qualifier that is taking place through this weekend in Turkey’s capital city and where the hosts are joined by their opponents from Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Lithuania and Romania. The tournament got somehow started already on Wednesday night via the technical meeting chaired by CEV Technical Delegate Willy Bruninx and attended also by the Vice President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, Mehmet Akif Üstundag. Members of the local organizing committee headed by Mr. Aziz Yener and Mrs. Nilüfer Shimonsky were also there together with CEV Referee Delegate Vladimir Cuk, TVF Board member Ahmet Göksu, plus the international referees and officials of the various delegations.

As he did welcome all guests to Turkey, Mr. Üstundag said: “I wish you all the best for this tournament hoping that every match will be played in a spirit of fair-play and sportsmanship. We will be doing our utmost to make you feel comfortable during your stay in Ankara. I wish you good luck and also that by the end of the tournament you will be leaving Turkey with good memories”.
