TURKISH SUPER CUP M: Subaşı delivers 10 aces, driving Galatasaray to first-ever Super Cup title

Galatasaray HDI Sigorta won the Turkish Men’s Volleyball Super Cup for the first time in the club history.

Galatasaray won the national Super Cup (official name this year: 2019 Erkekler Spor Toto Şampiyonlar Kupası) in the second attempt.

In a duel of the fierce rivals from Istanbul, who are both having the name of the same sponsor next to the name of the club (HDI Sigorta), Galatasaray beat Fenerbahçe after trailing 2-1 in the sets: 3-2 (25-23, 16-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-6). The match was played at nearly sold out Ankara TVF Başkent Volleyball Hall (5,000 spectators) and lasted for as much as 2 hours and 14 minutes.

Burutay Subaşı had a surreal serving display for the winning side with 10 aces! He was also the best scorer for Galatasaray with 24 points and was named MVP of the match. On the other side, Dutchman Wouter ter Maat poured in 29 points.
