Galatasaray HDI Sigorta ran over titleholders Ziraat Bankkart in the first round of the 2021/22 Turkish Men’s Volleyball Championship.
The champions will want to forget the debut to the 2021/22 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi as soon as possible. The Ankara side, who took the Super Cup a few days ago, was run over on the road in Istanbul: 0-3 (20-25, 23-25, 21-25). Galatasaray’s captain Burutay Subaşı scored match-high 17 points. Puerto Rican Maurice Torres served four aces. Ziraat fans are certainly sad to see that neither of their players finished the match in double digits on the scoresheet.
Halkbank’s newcomer, who arrived just a couple of days ago, Božidar Vučićević, led them to a four-set triumph against Spor Toto. Serbian tallied 11 points in the big match against the Cup holders. Mustafa Koç contributed to a win with four blocks.
