Ziraat Bankkart took the lead in the series of the 2021/22 Turkish Men’s Volleyball Championship playoff finals.
No.3 Ziraat Bankkart defeated No.1 Halkbank 3-1 in the first match of the 2021/22 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi playoff final series. The reigning champions started the clash on the right foot, but thanks to a good defense, Halkbank leveled at 1-1 in sets. The third set turned out to be crucial as Ziraat prevailed over the regular-season winners in overtime and after 46 minutes of a play. Even though it can’t be said looking at the score but Ziraat were in full control of the fourth set, closing the match in their favor.
The Dutch Wouter Ter Maat highlighted the winning side with 25 points. Faik Samet Güneş made 5 blocks. On the other side of the net, Cuban Fernando Hernández tallied 17 points, including 4 aces. The second match of the best-of-5 series will be played on Monday, May 2, again at the home ground of Halkbank.
