The 2015 gold medallists repeated their achievement from last year in Ankara by taking the ‘big match’ with hosts Serbia 3-1 (25-16, 20-25, 25-19, 25-22). This performance accounts for Turkey‘s fifth Balkan title in this age group – and for the third in a row. Turkey had previously topped the podium in 2002, 2006, 2014 and 2015.
Bulgaria settled for the bronze medal after beating Montenegro 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 25-16) on the final day of the tournament where Bosnia and Herzegovina claimed a Volleyball marathon with Romania 3-2 (25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 16-25, 15-8).
The eventual winners and the MVP of the tournament, Turkey Abdullah Çam , were awarded medals and trophies by Serbia Volleyball legend, 2000 Olympic champion Nikola Grbic.
