TUR M: Unstoppable Konarski leads Ziraat to 5-0, Halkbank kill morale of Fenerbahçe by making 16 aces

Ziraat Bankası Ankara are still unbeaten in the Turkish Men’s volleyball Championship Efeler Ligi. Halkbank Ankara win Round 5 derby versus Fenerbahçe İstanbul.

Ziraat faced the toughest rivals so far in the Turkish league, or it seemed on the paper. In a duel of the two teams from Ankara, Ziraat easily outplayed Maliye Milli Piyango on the road, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 30-28). The Pole Dawid Konarski scored 19 points (3 aces) for the winning side, while the German Denys Kaliberda made 15 (4 aces). The Estonian Oliver Venno noted 11 points from Milli Piyango.

In the derby of Round 5, Halkbank beat Fenerbahçe 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-22) so now both sides have 3-2 with ‘Fener’ losing the third game in a row in the tournament. Halkbank made incredible 16 aces in the game, while Serbian Nemanja Petrić stood out with 18 points. In Fenerbahçe, Metin Toy notched 15 points.
