NCAA Women’s Division 1 Volleyball Championship came close to the very end - the Final Four - as all four Regional Semifinals and Finals are over!

Lincoln Regional – at Lincoln, Nebraska

After an epic comeback from two sets down to defeat Penn State in five sets in semis, Nebraska’s volleyball team pounded Washington 25-16, 25-10, 25-21 in the NCAA Regional Finals sending 8,355 fans home from „Devaney Sports Center“ with a smile on their faces. Reigning champions and top seeded Huskers downed eight-seeded Huskies in 90 minutes and eliminated them from the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year. Senior Andie Malloy had 15 kills for Nebraska who face Texas in the national semifinals.

Austin Regional – at Austin, Texas

Just like Nebraska, No. 4 Texas Volleyball also had to firstly survive thrilling Regional Semifinal (3-2 vs. Brigham Young University) and then, to advance to its fifth-consecutive NCAA Final Four with a 3-0 win over amazing Creighton (25-19, 25-20, 25-11) at „Gregory Gym“. Creighton previously upset fifth-seeded Kansas in Second Round and No. 12 Michigan in Regional Semifinal but could not go any further. Junior Ebony Nwanebu led Longhorns with 13 kills, helping her school to reach its fifth-straight NCAA Women’s Volleyball Semifinal and 12th in program history.

Minneapolis Regional – at Minneapolis, Minnesota

Second-seeded Minnesota volleyball team swept No. 10 UCLA 25-23, 25-20, 25-22 to qualify to the National Semifinals for the second straight year. The Gophers improved to 29-4 on the season. Before UCLA, Minnesota eliminated Missouri 3-1. As a team, Gophers put up 12 blocks to UCLA’s 7, hit 46 kills, and had 61 digs. Senior Sarah Wilhite led winners with 15 kills. The Gophers will face sixth-seeded Stanford at F4.

Madison Regional – at Madison, Wisconsin

After pretty confident 3-1 win over Florida State at Regional Semis, Stanford was 0-2 down against No.3 Wisconsin in Finals but senior Inky Ajanaku rallied the Cardinal to an 18-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-21, 15-9 win. She recorded a season-high 20 kills to make Wisconsin the only Regional hosts not to win the tournament. Head coach John Dunning made his 12th Final Four appearance overall and his eighth in 16 seasons at the helm of Stanford program. The Cardinal now have 113 NCAA Tournament victories, the most in the nation.
