Currently ranked third in Pool F with four points, Marek Union-Ivkoni needs a 3:0 or 3:1 win as well as some “indirect” help by the teams competing in the other Pools to stretch its campaign in the Cups. In order to prepare as good as possible for this clash the Bulgarian team has decided to postpone all matches scheduled for the domestic competitions.
“We have a tough mission but not an impossible one” says general manager Lyudmil Naydenov. “Theoretically we still have our chances to finish third and even to be moved to the CEV Cup. We had already expected, since we embarked on this adventure, this game to be decisive”.
Arkas will also travel to Samokov very motivated to take maximum points from this game in order to make it to the Playoffs 12 by finishing as one of the five second-ranked teams with the best score. Arkas just claimed its last match of the national league – for a total of 9 – by edging Galatasaray 3:2 in Istanbul.
