“We want to show a good game especially for the good of our fans” says head coach Alexander Waibl. “We played a good match in Azerbaijan to open the season and of course we are very disappointed for last week’s defeat in Poland to Tauron MKS DABROWA GORNICZA, where we could not show our best play”.
“We did not play as we expected to do but we have to look forward and take up the next challenges. We want to show our best also and especially for our fans” adds managing director Sandra Zimmermann.
Azerrail will be pretty much motivated going into this match as the side around Italian-born head coach Alessandro Chiappini is fighting with DABROWA GORNICZA for second place in the Pool in order to make it to the Playoffs 12. Shall Tauron MKS cause a sensation in Istanbul as they play there group leader Eczacibasi VitrA, Azerrail will need a win in Germany to make it to the next stage.
The libero of DRESDNER SC, Myrthe Schoot, is still injured and spent the last few weeks at home in the Netherlands, but she will come to Dresden along with the head coach of the Dutch national team, Gido Vermeulen. That fixture is indeed a kind of “orange reunion”, with Robin de Kruijf and Judith Pietersen playing for the home side, while three Dutch players – Manon Flier, Debby Stam-Pilon and Caroline Wensink – are included in the roster of Azerrail.
