Sollys Nestlé’s 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-17) win over Banana Boat/Beach Club on Monday vaulted them into first place in the Brazilian Superliga standings with 15 points. Fernanda Garay was voted player of the match.

In the next round, Sollys Nestlé will face rivals Sesi-SP. The match will take place on Friday at 21:00 local time.

Garay praised the opposing team and said it is normal for favorites to win the tournament title to be under pressure to win games: “The team has very talented players. We knew it was going to be hard, and we prepared well for the game. Michelle Herrera is a mainstay of the team and we needed to stop her. Thank God we did. The team played well, gave their best.

Meanwhile, in Italy’s Serie A1, Trentino Diatec padded their lead over second-place Marche Macerata with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-12) victory over Marmi Lanza Verona. They now have 26 points, four up on Macerata.

Matey Kaziyski was the player of the match in the convincing win, which took only 71 minutes to complete. Trentino can now look forward to their next game this coming Sunday at 18:00 local time against CMC Ravenna.
